The Black Rose Netlabel Collective is a co-operatively artist-run free-music netlabel. Our collective purpose is to release music that isn't currently being released by the majority of other existing netlabels, and to work together to build a free-music community that is greater than the sum of its' parts. The founders' musical backgrounds are primarily in post-punk, deathrock, noise, industrial, and experimental music, but we're open to pretty much anything.

We as artists can accomplish more and have more fulfilling experiences when we work together.

If you would like to join us and release your music with us, send us an email with a link to where we can check your music out:

You will be expected to contribute what you can to the Collective, but the extent to which will be largely up to you. The more we work together, however, the more we can accomplish.

The name "black rose" was chosen for a few reasons. It sounds innocuous enough to be just another dark-music scene cliché, but it is also an anarchist symbol referring to a famous labour strike. It is within this dialectic, of the banality of commercial culture and the self-organization of the voiceless, that we as artists must operate in the 21st century.

the silence industry

Dearest Death

"Upon hearing of a band performing under the moniker "Dearest Death,"( San Benito Texas United States)

one might be inclined to imagine that the music would be that of a group bent on suicide, ready to hit the auto-destruct button before even getting off the ground. Yet such an assumption would only reveal a level of ignorance of the band’s point of view. Fortunately, listening to even just one the the myriad songs the band has already created will put such assumptions to rest, for while the music is certainly dark, brooding, and moody, it is clearly the work of a group of artists that have no intention of ever giving up or giving in. The songs are simply too menacing for any listener to make such judgements once they have been heard. "

MMV

is an experimental music project created by Koko in 2007 (Melbourne Australia).

The aim is to create music with any sound or noise that pushes the boundaries. Unconventional instruments, sounds, and structures are at the core of the whole project. The music sounds experimental sometimes, melodic indie next, then twists into industrial, electronic body music, metal, gothic, pop... whatever goes. Originating from the Basque Country in Europe, and now living in Melbourne, Australia; Koko describes himself as a musical terrorist; and playing the music loud, questioning authority, civil disobedience, and dissent are strongly encouraged.

All MMV songs are home recorded (sorry neighbours!) with prehistoric equipment. The first demo is entitled MISERABLE MURDEROUS VIOLENCE. and it shows everything MMV is about.
Finally, MMV is an independent project and it will remain so. No business, no labels, no bullshit.
